Don Lemon Speaks Out About His Arrest for Covering Anti-ICE Protest: ‘They Want to Instill Fear’

Former CNN anchor Don Lemon has spoken out publicly for the first time regarding his arrest while he appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live!

The 59-year-old was taken into custody by federal agents in LA after covering an anti-ICE protest that arose on January 18 at a church in St. Paul, Minnesota.

This protest arose inside a church where an ICE official served as a pastor. Demonstrators entered the service to slam immigration enforcement policies, and federal authorities later charged Lemon and others with federal civil rights violations.

This entails conspiracy against religious freedom and interference with worship. However, Lemon continued to insist that he wasn't participating in this protest but happened to be there solely to report and document those events as a journalist.

During the latest appearance on TV, Lemon shared more related to the arrest as being an intimidating show of force, recalling getting handcuffed inside his hotel by a team of agents. He also shared how the government's actions appear to be intentional and designed to instill fear in him and his work.
