30 to 40 elementary school students in Sacramento, California, were recently rescued after their school bus crashed into a shallow creek early in the morning.
The incident arose on Raley Boulevard near McClellan Airport during the morning commute.
As per the California Highway Patrol, preliminary data suggested that the bus driver might have fallen asleep at the wheel, while the exact cause of death is yet to be shared.
An investigation is currently underway by both the CHP and the school district's transportation department.
Images from local media outlets showed the schoolbus hanging over the side of the road with its front end inside the water.
Despite this very alarming scene, authorities shared more about how students were properly seated and secured, and no one was injured. After the bus was stabilized, students were safely evacuated and put onto a second bus and transported to the school for their parents to pick them up.
